Biographical Information[edit]

Ching-Wen Hu has been on the Taiwanese women's national team.

Hu backed up Chiao-Yun Huang at 1B in the 2014 Women's Baseball World Cup, going 2 for 5 with a run and a RBI while handling 7 putouts. [1] By the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, she had moved to pitcher. She was a workhorse in that event. After a shutout inning of relief against Venezuela in the opener, she started the next game and was roughed up for seven runs in three innings in a loss to Noelia De Jesús and Puerto Rico. A day later, she pitched three shutout innings to beat South Korea. After a day off, she worked two shutout innings to get the win over Lisa Bergwerff and the Netherlands. After a day off, she lost a 2-1 pitching duel against champion Japan, facing Miyu Shimizu and Asaka Tsuru. Two days later, she got the nod in the title game versus Japan and Ayami Sato. She allowed three runs in three before Huang relieved and took the loss as Taiwan got blanked. She had pitched in six of Taiwan's nine games, starting four and getting decisions in five, including all three of their losses (though two were against the dominant Japanese squad). She tied for 3rd in the Cup in wins (one behind Sato and Huang), tied Marlenny Quero for the most losses, easily led in decisions (no one else had more than 3), tied Dianelis Porro for the most games pitched, led in starts, was 3rd in IP (18, after Huang and Sato), tied for 3rd in hits allowed (19, after Huang and Yik-Shan Hung), tied Porro and Giddelys Cumana for 4th in earned runs allowed (12) but was not in the top 10 in runs allowed, tied for 4th in walks (with Loes Asmus, Hannah Martensen and Mayumis Solano) and tied Rina Taniyama for 6th in Ks (9).
