Biographical Information

Chin-Shn Liu pitched for the Taiwanese national team and later coached.

Liu played for Taiwan when they won Bronze in the 1985 World Junior Championship. He pitched for Taiwan in the 1987 World Port Tournament and 1990 Goodwill Games. In the 1990 Baseball World Cup, he struggled (14 H, 3 BB, 2 K, 13 R, 11 ER in 3 IP), going 0-1. His 33.00 ERA was easily Taiwan's highest, with Kun-Yuan Chuo next at 13.50. He helped Taiwan finish first at the 1990 Asian Games when baseball was a demonstration event, so no Gold Medal was won.

The curveball specialist was with Taiwan for a Bronze in the 1993 Asian Championship. In the 1994 Baseball World Cup, he was 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA, tying Ching-Ching Huang for third on the staff in ERA. He got a Bronze in the 1994 Asian Games as well.

Becoming a coach, he was pitching coach for the Chinatrust Whales in the 1997 CPBL and 1998 CPBL. He held the same role with the Wei Chuan Dragons in 1999. He then moved to the rival Taiwan Major League and was pitching coach of the Kaoping Fala from 2000-2002. After a stint as a sports commentator, he was GM of the Sinon Bulls from 2007-2009. He coached for the Tianjin Lions in the China Baseball League in 2013 then was minor league pitching coach for the EDA Rhinos in 2014-2015.
