Biographical Information[edit]

Chao-Kuan Wu was a minor league catcher and first baseman for five years.

Wu was on the winning team in the 1996 Little League World Series. Six years later, he was on the Silver Medal in the 2002 World Junior Championship, hitting .419/.455/.742 with 3 homers and 10 runs in 8 games in the event. He tied Ian Stewart and eight others for 7th in the event in home runs and tied 13 players (including Stewart, Lastings Milledge and Adam Loewen for 10th in hits (13). Australia's Michael Sadler beat him out for honors as the tourney All-Star catcher. He also represented Taiwan in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, going 3 for 11 with a run and a RBI, splitting catching with Tsai-Sheng Weng.

Wu was signed by the Seattle Mariners. He hit .279/.326/.395 in 2003 for the AZL Mariners. In 2004, he batted .293/.337/.400 with the same outfit. The next season, Chao-Kuan hit .217/.314/.217 in 8 games for the Everett AquaSox. In 2006, he started with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and hit .195/.229/.260 in 22 games before being demoted back to Everett, where he batted .236/.310/.292 in 29 contests. He was then traded to the Cleveland Indians for future considerations. In 2007, he hit .280/.357/.280 in 13 games for the Kinston Indians, being used primarily to catch Sung-Wei Tseng. He then retired from Organized Baseball.
