Biographical Information[edit]
Cha-hun Son played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 9 years.
Son played for South Korea in the 1989 Intercontinental Cup, 1989 Asian Championship, 1991 Asian Championship and 1993 Asian Championship. The Pacific Dolphins selected him in the first round of the 1993 KBO draft, and he hit .219/.259/.280 in 93 games in his first season. He then struggled in 1994 as his batting line was .210/.250/.308, and he only played 4 games with the big club in 1995. Son hit .176/.239/.241 in 1996, and his batting line was .222/.304/.300 in 1997. He improved to .293/.326/.342 in 49 games in 1998, but his batting line fell to .211/.284/.324 in 1999. He was released after the 1999 season.
The SK Wyverns signed him, and Son played 79 games with a .242/.288/.319 batting line in 2000. He then batted .270/.308/.338 in 2001, and he announced his retirement after the 2001 season. Son then became a scout for the Wyverns, and he was named their general manager in 2019. He was the first GM for SK who had played for their team. Son did some important trades such as Jong-wook Ko's trade and Tae-yang Lee's trade, but he was fired after the Wyverns finished 9th in the 2020 season.
Overall, Son hit .223/.271/.299 with 246 hits and 10 homers in 9 seasons in the KBO.
