Category talk:Settlements in England

From BR Bullpen

This category needs to be cleaned up. The pages for them are listed all willy-nilly. Like some say 'city name, UK' others say 'city name, England' while others are 'city name, state(?), and others are just the city name. I have no idea what any of the places are but my friend Ellie who takes interest in doing baseball research stuff with me happens to be British so maybe she'd know the correct way to list them all? It depends on what the common listing for English settlements is. US settlements are name of settlement, state while ignoring county - ex. Pittsburgh, PA. In Japan or Canada, it's settlement, province. In Australia and Mexico, it's settlement, state. - Mischa (talk) 10:56, 8 March 2024 (UTC)

I suggest "city, county" (e.g. Blackburn, Lancashire). London can stay at London, England. Philippe (talk) 14:12, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
I agreed "city, county", but I thought London City was better then London, England. The same as the islands - Rugosa1134 (talk) 14:36, 8 March 2024 (UTC)

I've just done a couple other countries. I'll circle back to this one at some point. Jeff (talk) 18:00, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

Just to note, in response to Rugosa above, that London City would not work as the "City of London" is just a small part of what is commonly called London. Hence London, England, would need to stay (the only alternative being London, Greater London). Philippe (talk) 19:22, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
