Category talk:Colombian National Team Players

From BR Bullpen

Luis Gaviria brings us to 50 here. Our 28th senior national team category to 50 players - the 16 teams from the first two World Baseball Classics, then Nicaragua, Spain, the Netherlands Antilles, Britain, Germany, France, Brazil, Belgium, Greece, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Colombia. Our first country to make 50 in over a year - --Mischa (talk) 12:18, 6 May 2015 (EDT)

Juan Escorcia is the 100th player here. The 22nd nation there, after the USA, Japan, South Korea, Cuba, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Venezuela, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, China, Nicaragua, Panama, Spain, Great Britain, South Africa, Germany and Brazil. Since they've hit 50, they passed the Netherlands Antilles, France, Belgium, Greece, Croatia and the Czech Republic. It helps that they've played in a lot more events lately. From 2015-2017, they have been in two South American Championships, a World Baseball Classic qualifier and a WBC itself, a Pan American Games and a Bolivarian Games for six events in three years. Compare that to one event from 2005-2009, the BR Bullpen's first five years. - --Mischa (talk) 18:26, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

The number of Colombian players in organized baseball has also been growing very fast. There were hardly any a decade ago. --Philippe (talk) 18:58, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

I wonder why the explosion of interest. I doubt it's just a big star like Edgar Renteria or Panama would be doing just as well having had Mariano Rivera, whereas Panama seems to me to be in decline - --Mischa (talk) 00:17, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

José Araújo, one of the original team members, is the 150th entry. They're the 19th country to 150, after the USA, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Cuba, Italy, the Netherlands, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Panama, China, Great Britain and Spain. Since they got to 100, they passed South Africa, Germany and Brazil. - Mischa (talk) 13:52, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Our 200th is Jordan Díaz, our 16th nation to that level - following the USA, Japan, South Korea, Cuba, Taiwan, the Dominican Republic, Canada, Venezuela, Mexico, Italy, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, the Netherlands and Australia. They passed China, Britain and Spain since they got to 150. - Mischa (talk) 14:52, 13 March 2022 (UTC)

Carlos Arroyo (minors04) is the 250th player here. That makes it to the 14th to that mark, following US, Japan, Cuba, South Korea, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Taiwan, Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Panama and Italy. In the past 20 months, they have passed the Netherlands and Australia. - Mischa (talk) 16:54, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
