Biographical Information[edit]
José Araújo was an early Colombian baseball star. He was on the first Colombian national team, winning Silver in the 1938 Bolivarian Games. In the 1944 Amateur World Series, he led all players with four steals. He was on the Colombian squad that won Gold in the 1946 Central American and Caribbean Games, their first Gold in an international tourney. He also was with them for the 1947 Amateur World Series, when they won their first global event. A softball stadium in Colombia was named for him.
