1947 Amateur World Series

The 1947 Amateur World Series was held from November 29 through December 20 in Baranquilla, Colombia. It was the 9th Amateur World Series. The Cuban national team sat out and the competition only consisted of other Caribbean, Central American and South American teams.

The host Colombian national team won with a 7-2 record. Armando Crizon stole 6 bases for Colombia, which had a balanced effort. Cipriano Herrera no-hit Guatemala.

The Puerto Rican national team claimed Silver while Nicaragua had Bronze; both teams were 6-2 in the round-robin while Puerto Rico beat Nicaragua before losing to Colombia in the final round. Amateur World Series slugging star Stanley Cayasso drove in 12 runs for Nicaragua to lead the tourney, while Timoteo Mena went 3-0.

Other teams were Mexico (5-3), Venezuela (5-3), Panama (3-5), El Salvador (2-6), Costa Rica (2-6) and Guatemala (1-7).
