Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos Arroyo has played in the minors and for the Colombian national team.

He hit .267/.371/.367 with 7 RBI and 3 steals in 8 games for Colombia in the 2016 U-15 Baseball World Cup, fielding .922 at second base. [1] Pittsburgh Pirates scout Orlando Covo signed him in 2017. [2] He batted .294/.416/.322 with 33 walks, 35 runs and 15 steals (in 19 tries) for the 2018 DSL Pirates 1, fielding .971 at second. With the DSL Pirates 2 the next summer, he hit .303/.354/.401 with 38 runs in 44 games, fielding .986 at second.

Despite that fine start to his pro career, the Pirates cut him in February 2020. [3] The Miami Marlins signed him in 2021 and he was 3-for-18 with 3 walks, a hit-by-pitch, 4 runs and 3 RBI for the FCL Marlins, his lone appearance in the Marlins' farm chain. In the 2022 Caribbean Series, he hit .185/.185/.407 with 5 RBI in 7 games for the Caimanes de Barranquilla as they became the first Colombian League team to win a Caribbean Series. He tied Hanser Alberto for second in the Series in RBI, trailing only Robinson Canó.

Arroyo produced at a .385/.467/.615 clip with 7 runs and 3 doubles in 8 games in the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup, handling 24 chances error-free, and was named the All-Star second baseman. [4] He then joined the senior Colombian national team, for the 2023 Pan American Games, again starting at second. He struck out against Cuba's Yoennis Yera his first time up then doubled the next. The next game, he hit a 3-run homer off Brazil's Murilo Gouvêa. He had a superb Games, hitting .500/.458/.818 with five two-hit games in the six contests, scoring eight runs and driving in five, as Colombia won their first baseball Gold in a Pan American Games. He led the event in runs (two ahead of Deivi Muñoz) and hits (11, two ahead of Fabián Pertuz, Fernando Villegas Jr. and Francisco Acuña), tied for 8th in doubles (2), tied for first in both triples and homers (one of each), tied for 3rd in RBI (behind Dilson Herrera and Villegas), led in total bases (18, 4 ahead of Herrera), tied Herrera and Engelb Vielma for second in average (behind Jasson Atondo), tied Muñoz for third in slugging, tied for 4th with 5 double plays turned and was 5th in OPS (between Herrera and Vielma).
