600 entries. A growth of about 50% in the past 13 months. Of course, we don't even have half the current college coaches in the US probably, so we have a ways to go. - --Mischa 12:42, 15 January 2010 (EST)

The evolution of the baseball coach in college is interesting. In the 1800's there was no coach, just team captains. Then there was a shift to recently graduated players, or active ballplayers both major and minor league. Then for about 40-50 years, the baseball coach was just the football or basketball coach during his offseason. There really wasn't a major shift to dedicated baseball coaches until the 1950-1970 period. --Jeff 00:03, 10 March 2011 (EST)

It also seems like lots of them also were physical education professors in earlier times - they still are in many small schools - not a dedicated baseball coach full-time. - --Mischa 09:20, 10 March 2011 (EST)

Those changes came even later for small colleges and HBCU. --Jeff 15:21, 10 March 2011 (EST)

1,400 entries. Up five slots in the past two months to #16, passing Coach most recently. - --Mischa 20:35, 6 April 2011 (EDT)

Elton Pollock is #1,500. The #15 category, 18 shy of #14 Schools. So we're up to almost one coach per school - still a ways to go then. - --Mischa 20:42, 27 September 2011 (EDT)
