Biographical Information[edit]
Len Whitehouse was a relief pitcher in the 1980s.
On May 13, 1983, with one out and nobody on in the bottom of the 11th inning, the Minnesota Twins were leading 5-4 when Whitehouse threw a curveball to Reggie Jackson of the California Angels. Jackson took his customary big swing at the pitch and missed it, for his 2000th strikeout, the first batter to reach that dubious milestone. Everyone at the game or watching it on TV saw the historic feat, except for Len, who knocked his cap loose during his windup, with it ending up over his eyes. After a walk to Bobby Grich, Ron Davis replaced Whitehouse and saved the win for him.
2013 was Whitehouse's 13th year as pitching coach at Saint Michael's College. He was interim head coach for part of 2014.
