Biographical Information[edit]

In 1990 Ron Davis played in the Senior Professional Baseball Association for the Sun City Rays. Davis pitched in 10 games and had a 1.59 ERA with 2 saves before the league folded.

On May 4, 1981, pitching for the New York Yankees against the California Angels, he struck out 8 consecutive batters to set a major league record for a reliever. That record stood until August 2, 2020, when Tyler Alexander of the Detroit Tigers struck out 9 consecutive batters in a relief appearance.

Davis' son, Ike Davis, was drafted in the 1st round of the 2008 amateur draft and made his major league debut in 2010.
