Biographical Information[edit]

Elton Pollock played two seasons in the minors then became a college coach.

Pollock played both baseball and football in college, slugging .616 with 34 HR for his college career. The Pittsburgh Pirates took him in the fifteenth round of the 1995 amateur draft. He split the summer between the Erie SeaWolves (.299/.346/.385 in 43 G) and Augusta Greenjackets (.234/.282/.309 in 26 G) with a combined 20 steals in 28 tries. In 1996, he batted .235/.339/.319 for Augusta, showing speed (29 SB, 11 CS), ability to draw walks (68) and an outfield arm (13) but lacking the power expected of an outfielder. That season ended his professional career.

In 2003-2004, Pollock was assistant coach for his alma mater. He was promoted to head coach in 2005, overseeing the team's rise to NCAA Division I. In 2011, the team was 24-32, their best record yet in Division I. They beat Clemson University, then-ranked 16th in the nation.
