Biographical Information[edit]

Jamie Detillion played in the minors then became a college coach.

He was NCAA Division II All-American as an infielder in 1999. He set school career records for homers (46) and RBI (203), seasonal records for homers (23) and RBI (89) and single game records for homers (4) and RBI (8). He also won 30 games on the mound. [1] He was pitching coach at Ashland and assistant coach at Tiffin Columbian High School before turning pro. [2] He began his pro career with the 2000 Chillicothe Paints, going 1-1 with a 6.48 ERA in six games. The Detroit Tigers signed him and he did well the rest of the summer for the GCL Tigers (5-3, 2 Sv, 2.60 ERA, .95 WHIP) and was briefly with the Lakeland Tigers (6 R in 5 IP). He tied for 9th in the Gulf Coast League in wins.

Detillion was 2-3 with four saves and a 2.10 ERA in 48 games for the 2001 West Michigan Whitecaps. He tied Ferenc Jongejan for 8th in the Midwest League in games pitched and was 10th in the Tigers chain. He split 2002 between Lakeland (4-0, 1.50 in 7 G) and Dayton Dragons (5 R in 8 IP) to end his pro career at 11-6, 2.70 with six saves.

He then became assistant coach at Grand Valley State University. After ten years there, he was promoted to head coach. He took the team to the 2013 Division II College World Series and was 256-160-2 after nine seasons. [3]
