Biographical Information

Cameron Seitzer played in the minor leagues from 2010 to 2018. Seitzer's father, Kevin Seitzer, played in the major leagues and his uncle, Brad Seitzer, played as high as AAA.

Amateur Career

Seitzer hit .492 as a high school junior and .432 as a senior. He was named All-State. As a college freshman, he hit .307/.456/.547 as a DH-1B. His sophomore year, he batted .305/.431/.600 with 16 homers in 66 games. He was among the Big 12 Conference leaders in home runs (tied for third behind Adam Bailey and Garrett Buechele, also the son of a former starting third baseman in the majors) and RBI (65, tied for third with Buechele behind Bailey and Carter Jurica). He hit .253/.318/.353 for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the Cape Cod League, with 16 RBI in 20 games (good for second on the team in RBI). In '11, the junior watched his power evaporate as he batted .358/.456/.514 to finish second in the Big 12 in average behind Tyler Naquin. The Tampa Bay Rays, behind scout Brian Hickman, took him in the 11th round of the 2011 amateur draft.

Professional Career

Seitzer made his pro debut with the Princeton Rays and batted .285/.407/.498 with 11 home runs, 42 RBI and 43 walks in 64 games. He tied for 5th in the Appalachian League in homers, led in walks, was 6th in OBP and 9th in OPS. With the Bowling Green Hot Rods in 2012, the 1B-DH produced at a .307/.386/.429 clip with 36 doubles. He was 4th in the Midwest League in average, third in OBP (behind Colin Walsh and Brandon Macias) and tied Jeff Malm and Matt Holm for second in doubles behind K.C. Hobson (yet another son of a major league third baseman). He tied Malm for second in the Rays chain in doubles. He made the MWL All-Star team at first base.

He opened 2013 as the first baseman for the Montgomery Biscuits.

Post-Playing Career

Seitzer was hitting coach for the Great Falls Voyagers in 2019 and was scheduled to return until the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the minor league season. He was hitting coach of the Birmingham Barons in 2021, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers in 2022, and Charlotte Knights in 2023-2024.
