Biographical Information[edit]

Bobby Bell has played and coached in the minors.

Undrafted, Bell signed with the California Angels in 1986. He hit .153/ ~.255/.260 for the Palm Springs Angels and .234/~.263/.286 for the Quad Cities Angels that year, playing primarily catcher. In 1987, he batted only .153/~.250/.212 for Palm Springs, backing up Jeff Manto at third base. He split 1988, his last year, between the Quad Cities (3 for 22) and Palm Springs (0 for 14) clubs, finishing his career with a .164 average.

Bell was a hitting coach for the 2004-2005 Joliet Jackhammers and 2006 Schaumburg Flyers in the independent Northern League. After a year out of baseball, he moved to the Frontier League as hitting coach for the 2008 Evansville Otters.

In 2009 Bell moved back into Organized Baseball with the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He was hitting coach of the 2010 Jupiter Hammerheads and 2011-2014 GCL Marlins. After leaving the Miami Marlins organization Bell worked as a private instructor for the next three years. He joined the Milwaukee Brewers organization during the 2018-2019 seasons as a hitting coach for the Carolina Mudcats. Following another three year hiatus, Bell was hitting coach for the Corpus Christi Hooks in 2023-2024.
