Biographical Information[edit]

Bill Rhinehart was a minor league first baseman and outfielder who was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 11th round of the 2007 amateur draft from the University of Arizona. He played in the minors from 2007 to 2012.

He began his professional career in 2007 with the Vermont Lake Monsters of the New York-Penn League, hitting .299 with 5 homers and 43 RBIs in 60 games. He was named to the play in the circuit's All-Star Game. He then made it all the way to AA in 2008, when he had an excellent season with three teams, the Hagerstown Suns, the Potomac Nationals and the Harrisburg Senators, combining to hit .269 in 133 games, with 39 doubles, 18 homers and 89 RBIs. He continued to do well in the Arizona Fall League after the season, batting .326 in 23 games. However, his progress stalled in 2009 when he spent the entire season with Harrisburg in the Eastern League and hit .239/.292/.389 in 129 games, with 12 homers and 56 RBIs.

2010 was a strange season, as he spent the bulk of the year back in Class A, with Potomac, but also made it up to AA Harrisburg and the AAA Syracuse Chiefs for a few games at both spots. He hit just .196 in a month of action at Harrisburg, and .222 in a week with Syracuse, but .254 with 14 homers and 51 RBIs in 85 games in the Carolina League. In 2011, he started the year at Harrisburg and seemed to be getting back on track after spinning his wheels for the previous two years. In 89 games, he hit .283 with 21 homers and 59 RBIs. On July 26th, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds along with P Chris Manno in return for OF Jonny Gomes. He was assigned to the Carolina Mudcats of the Southern League, remaining in AA, and continued to hit well, batting .287 in 36 games. Between the two stops, his line was .284/.377/.565, with 28 homers and 88 RBIs in 125 games. However, he was already 26 by then , and running out of time. In 2012, he was with the Reds' new AA affiliate, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, and with their AAA team, the Louisville Bats, but he hit just .233 with 8 homers in 92 games in AAA, and .150 in 6 games in AA to bring his career to an end.

Overall, he batted.258 in 663 minor league games, with 88 homers and 367 RBIs.
