Bernard Adei

From BR Bullpen

Bernard Adei has been a pitcher and manager in Uganda.

Adei attended the MLB European Academy in 2009. [1] He coached the Ugandan team in the 2015 Little League World Series. [2] He pitched three perfect innings for the Ugandan national team in the 2019 African Championship Qualifiers to beat Tanzania. [3] In the 2019 African Championship itself, he was Uganda's player-manager. He got their first win, combining with Nicholas Alumai on a no-hitter of Zimbabwe. [4] Interestingly, Alumai had been one of the players on the 2015 LLWS team he coached. Adei got their third win as well, giving him 2/3 of their victories, beating Zimbabwe and Cliff Vint. [5] In the finale, though, against powerhouse South Africa, he did not fare as well. Relieving Alumai with a 11-0 deficit in the 3rd, he soon served up a grand slam to Charl Cordier as South Africa was on the way to a 27-0 rout. [6] He finished the event at 2-0, 8.30. He led the event in victories and was 6th with 7 whiffs (a team-high) while placing 5th in the high-scoring tourney in ERA (between Hamidou Kafando and Cliff Vint). [7]
