Beaumont Golden Gators

From BR Bullpen

In 1983, the Amarillo Gold Sox, the Texas League affiliate of the San Diego Padres moved to Beaumont, Texas, and became known as the Beaumont Golden Gators. They won a league championship in their first season. After the 1986 season, the club moved again and became the Wichita Pilots.

The Golden Gators called Vincent-Beck Stadium home for their entire existence.

It should be noted that Oswaldo "Ozzie" Guillen played in the Texas League playing for the Beaumont Golden Gators in 1983, the Golden Gators Inaugural year. He batted .295 with 2 HR and 7 SB. Fans in the bleachers behind the 3rd base dugout were treated to numerous foul balls from Ozzie's at-bats.
