BR Bullpen talk:Featured Article
Time for a new featured article? It seems Josh Hancock and Longest game in baseball history both have a lot of support. -Chisoxfan 12:00, 18 March 2008 (EDT)
The latter is good but needs a picture. I tried scanning in a picture of Barrett and Boggs at home that the Pawtucket Red Sox agreed to release but it wouldn't load in. If you want to give it a shot, let me know. - --Mischa 13:28, 18 March 2008 (EDT)
I think we should update this monthly, at least during the season. Anyone else think it's time for something new? -Chisoxfan 01:01, 1 May 2008 (EDT)
I was going to propose Dave Nilsson for later this month but want to patch up some red links first. - --Mischa 09:06, 1 May 2008 (EDT)
I think Nilsson is a good choice. Well written and incorporates both MLB and international baseball. -Chisoxfan 13:56, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
Okay, it's been two months and we need a change. Looking at BR Bullpen:Featured Article Candidates, we have the following candidates:
- 2001-2002 Cuban National League; not ready for prime time
- Josh Hancock; almost ready but needs some work
- Peanuts. Vote is 2 to 1 against. Unlikely.
- Richard Nixon's All-Time All-Star Teams. Only one vote in support. Unlikely.
So only Hancock is viable and that is not done. People can always propose other candidates. I like the current Ty Cobb after Philippe added lots of info but it needs sources, as do many other good articles that meet the other criteria.
What do others think? - --Mischa 20:32, 2 July 2008 (EDT)
Does anyone else think we need to be updating Featured Articles more often? We've only had 6 since the start of 2008. I know there aren't many that meet all of the criteria, but perhaps we could lower the bar ever so slightly just for the sake of mixing up the front page once in a while. -Chisoxfan 17:55, 6 May 2010 (EDT)
People need to present more candidates and/or work on more detailed articles. Do you have suggestions for new FAs? I agree we should change them more often . - --Mischa 20:03, 6 May 2010 (EDT)
Adrian Garrett is pretty extensive, just off the top of my head. -Chisoxfan 23:53, 18 May 2010 (EDT)
I keep meaning to recommend Koichi Tabuchi - --Mischa 09:13, 21 May 2010 (EDT)
After the Atomic Ant, we could perhaps go over to Europe, Joris Bert or something on baseball in Holland, the Port Tournament or the other tournament they have (the name escapes me now)... Or perhaps Happy Chandler? Oaktree_b 00:53, 8 August 2012 (EDT)
- Those articles are tiny, maybe Roy Halladay or Roberto Alomar would be better. Alomar is interesting, I don't think we've yet had any Puerto Rican players as features. Oaktree_b 00:59, 8 August 2012 (EDT)
You can propose an article by making a page for BR Bullpen:Featured Article Candidates/Joris Bert or whatever and have people comment. I thought about Bert once but it is really short. Usually, we've been going person-person-event/team-person-person-event/team, etc. so we're probably due for some event or team next (once Polonia is posted). - --Mischa 09:13, 8 August 2012 (EDT)
We're due for a new featured article, or at least discussion of candidates. Next would be an event or team, if we keep up our team/event-person-person-team/event sequence. Any thoughts? - Mischa (talk) 16:23, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
