Biographical Information[edit]

Andrew Marck is a pitcher-turned-outfielder from New Zealand.

Marck was with the Brisbane Bandits in the 2011-2012 Australian Baseball League, going 0-1 with a 6.97 ERA; in 10 1/3 IP, he allowed 9 hits and 6 walks while striking out five. He was on the New Zealand national team roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He started against the Philippines national team and allowed a hit, walk and unearned run while fanning two in one inning before John Holdzkom took over in a win. In his other outing, he relieved Holdzkom with a 2-0 deficit, two on and one out against host Taiwan. He retired none, allowing a hit to Yen-Wen Kuo, a walk to Chih-Kang Kao and a bases-loaded walk to Kuo-Hui Kao then Chien-Ming Chang doubled for a 7-0 lead, giving Marck a 27.00 ERA for the Classic; Riki Paewai relieved.

Marck struggled with Brisbane in the 2012-2013 ABL: 3 BB, 1 HB, 1 WP, 2 R, only one out. In the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he again got the start against the Philippines. He lasted 3 1/3 innings and allowed 5 hits and three runs, two on a dinger by Brady Conlan. Joseph Boyce relieved him with a 3-3 tie in the 4th and New Zealand went on to a 17-7 win. By the time New Zealand got a team, the Auckland Tuatara, in the 2018-2019 ABL, he was a batter rather than a pitcher; he was 4 for 16 with a walk and a double, scoring once. In 2019-2020, he hit .319/.373/.403 while splitting right field with Josh McAdams. He was second on the team with seven doubles.

He split DH with Connar O'Gorman for New Zealand in the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, going 0 for 4 but drawing a walk from Gabriel Barbosa of Brazil then scoring their first run on a double by Max Brown.
