Auckland Tuatara

From BR Bullpen

The Auckland Tuatara joined the Australian Baseball League as an expansion team in 2018-2019 as the circuit moved beyond Australia for the first time. The squad from Auckland, New Zealand was managed by Steve Mintz. They finished last in their conference at 14-26, but well ahead of the other expansion team, Geelong-Korea. Their offensive leaders included New Zealand national team regulars Daniel Lamb-Hunt (.282/.373/.376) and Max Brown (.238/.308/.434). Former major leaguer Josh Collmenter was their top starter at 3-4, 3.25.

The Coronavirus pandemic played havoc with the team, even more than with other baseball teams around the world, as strict travel restrictions in effect in Australia meant that the New Zealand squad had to give a pass to both the 2020-21 and 2021-22 Australian Baseball League seasons.
