Geelong-Korea
Geelong-Korea was an Australian Baseball League expansion team in the 2018-2019 ABL season. The name comes from a mix of their location (Geelong, Victoria) and their player base (Korean players). They finished dead last at 7-33 their first season, with a team OPS of 606 and an ERA of 8.36. RF Kwang-min Kwon (.215/.262/.423) led the team with 6 HR and 20 RBI, while 49-year-old Dae-sung Koo pitched a scoreless inning. In 2019-2020, they improved to 11-29 under skipper Graeme Lloyd. Chang-ki Hong hit .333/.465/.496 and future major leaguer Ji-hwan Bae .297/.416/.469. Gi-hyun Yang was 1-0 with a save and a 0.86 ERA. After COVID-19 hit, the team vanished until 2022-2023. They were 13-27 for manager Byung-kyu Lee, edging out the Sydney Blue Sox to not have the worst record. Former AAA player Jae-hoon Ha hit .306/.354/.792 with 11 homers and 18 RBI in 21 games, Ji-min Choi had two saves and a 1.47 ERA and Koo made three appearances at age 52. The team vanished when the league contracted in 2023-2024.
