(Redirected from 2012-2013 ABL)
The 2012-2013 Australian Baseball League was the third season in the second incarnation of the Australian Baseball League.
After two straight titles by the Perth Heat, they were swept in the finals by the Canberra Cavalry. Aaron Sloan was the MVP of the championship series, going 5 for 8 with a home run. Ryan Stovall drove in 3 in the 7-6 finale win, Brodie Downs got the win and Sean Toler the save. Michael Wells hit the deciding homer in the 7th off Jack Frawley. Canberra pounded Warwick Saupold, the 2011-2012 Pitcher of the Year, for 9 hits and 6 runs in 3 innings, though Cavalry starter John Holdzkom was not much better.
Canberra's Adam Buschini won the Triple Crown (.363, 15 HR, 60 RBI) and also led in runs (37, tied with teammate Kody Hightower), hits (61), total bases (116) and slugging. The Cavalry also boasted doubles leader Jeremy Barnes (16) and triples leader Stovall (4). The Sydney Blue Sox had all the other leaders in key departments: Chris Snelling led in walks (32) and OBP (.492), Zach Penprase led in steals (16), Craig Anderson led in ERA (2.10) and wins (8), Chris Oxspring had the most strikeouts (86) and Matthew Williams notched the most saves (15). Buschini would win MVP honors easily, with Anderson being Pitcher of the Year and Allan de San Miguel (Perth) and Stefan Welch (Adelaide) sharing the Gold Glove.
