Biographical Information

Jason Pospishil has played baseball on three continents.

Pospishil signed with the Minnesota Twins as a teenager. He hit .175/.266/.246 for the 2001 GCL Twins. In 2002, he hit .312/.353/.375 for the New South Wales club in the Claxton Shield; only Rodney van Buizen was a better performer at the plate.

Jason was 1 for 5 with 3 walks and 3 runs in the 2003 Claxton Shield. For the Elizabethton Twins that year, he batted .209/.250/.279 with 25 runs produced in 29 games. He was the 4th outfielder on the Appalachian League champions. It was his last year in the USA.

In the 2004 Claxton Shield, the Sydney native was 1 for 11 with five strikeouts, a run and 2 RBI; he would be out of the Shield for the next two years. He then signed with the Olmpijia Karlovac Kelteks of Croatia and became one of their star performers, helping them win several Croatian pennants.

Pospishil was back in uniform in Australia in 2007, going 1 for 13 with 4 walks, 2 runs and 2 RBI for the Australian Provincials club. He was with Karlovac that summer, hitting .443 with 26 steals to lead the Croatian 1A League in average.

Jason became one of the few foreign imports to play for the Croatian national team. In the 2007 European Championship, he hit .273/.385/.364 as Croatia's third-best offensive threat after Josip Brozinic and Damir Karin. During the 2008 European Cup in Regensburg, Pospishil batted .286/.412/.714 for Croatia, with 2 homers and 5 RBI (all the RBI and homers coming in a win over the Russian MGPU entry). He was 7th in the tourney in slugging and tied for the lead in home runs (even with Luis Ugueto, Giuseppe Mazzanti, Jeroen Sluijter and Pavel Budský).

In the 2008 European Championship Qualifiers, Pospishil batted .333/.400/.444 with 7 runs in 4 games to help Croatia win a spot in the 2010 European Championship. He tied teammate Slobodan Gales for the most runs in the Karlovac qualifiers. He was still only 25 years old at year's end, despite his long career to that point.

Pospishil has been the manager of the Sydney Blue Sox from the 2012-2013 Australian Baseball League through the 2015-2016 season.
