2001 was the fifth season for the Taiwan Major League. Chiayi set a record for worst record; after a 6-0 start, they were 7-47 the remainder of the way and dropped 26 of their final 27.

Awards[edit]

The MVP was Tsung-Hui Tong, first baseman for the Taichung Agan, the lone position player picked as MVP in the league's six-year run. He hit .331, third in the league, and drove in 45, good for second. The Rookie of the Year was Chin-Chih Huang of Taichung, who easily won the ERA crown (1.62 to 2.43 for the runner-up).
