2001 European Cupwinners Cup

The 2001 European Cupwinners Cup was held in Bussum, Netherlands. In the final DPA Kinheim beat cup holders and tournament hosts Mr. Cocker HCAW to win this trophy for a second time. In the finale, 40-year-old star Marcel Joost hit a grand slam of Perry Hoetjes in the 3rd for the big blow. Patrick Beljaards did not allow a run until the 9th, going the distance; Bas de Jong's 2-run homer was too little, too late for HCAW.

HCAW's Clive Mendes was named MVP while teammate Jeroen Hubert was named Best Pitcher. Arga's Roberto Ederra was honored as Best Hitter, while Mainz's Edward Martinez was named Homerun King.

This would also be the last time any Italian teams entered this competition. IBL teams played in eight finals, winning three of them.
