1939 International League season
The 1939 International League season saw a close race for the four playoff spots, with Newark and Syracuse needing a one-game play-in for the final slot. It also marked the first title for a Jersey City team since 1903 (when the league was called the Eastern League); no Jersey City club had even made the first division since 1922.
