Biographical Information[edit]

Bert Niehoff played six seasons in the majors. He led the league in doubles in 1916, although his batting average at .243 was below the league average. His Major League playing career ended when he collided with Ross Youngs and suffered a broken leg.

He was a minor league manager compiling a 1824-1713 record in 24 seasons between 1922-1954, including 15 years in the Southern Association. He was a coach for the 1929 New York Giants and a scout for the New York Yankees (1948-1949) and Los Angeles/California Angels (1961-1968). Additionally, he managed for the South Bend Blue Sox in the AAGPBL (1943-1944). Niehoff also spent 1952 as General Manager of the Mobile Bears.

In 1947-1948 Niehoff was a scout for the New York Yankees, and from 1961 to 1969, he was a scout for the Los Angeles/California Angels.
