Overview[edit]

The 1926 Colored World Series was the third of four post-season meetings between the respective champions of the Negro National League and the Eastern Colored League. It was a best of nine series between the NNL Chicago American Giants and the ECL Atlantic City Bacharach Giants. It covered eleven games in four cities, with Chicago prevailing five games to four, with two ties.

Red Grier was driven from the mound in the second, unable to retire a single opponent, and the American Giants held off the Bacharachs for a 7-6 victory and a 1-0 lead in the Series.

Red Grier came back from his humiliation the day before to make history by pitching the Negro Leagues' first post-season no-hitter, thirty years before Don Larsen's perfect gem, Grier allowed six walks and struck out eight.
