History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 1905 New York Giants won their second consecutive National League pennant, going 105-48 and finishing well ahead of the second-place Pittsburgh Pirates. After refusing to play the American League champions the year before, they faced the Philadelphia Athletics in the World Series and won it, four games to one, with all five games being shutouts.

The Giants made mincemeat of the Boston Beaneaters during the season, going 19-3 against them and outscoring them 145-40. Boston's only three wins were all recorded by Irv Young, by scores of 2-0, 2-1 and 1-0. Still, this was one of the most lopsided season series in all of major league history.
