Biographical Information[edit]

Yueh-Liang Lin played in the CPBL and for the Chinese Taipei national baseball team.

Lin represented Taiwan in the 1994 Asian Games and 1994 Baseball World Cup. The Mercuries Tigers drafted Lin in the first round of the 1997 CPBL draft. Lin batted only .151/.225/.180 in 93 games in his rookie year. The young shortstop broke out in 1998, hitting .229/.263/.280 and was selected into the All-Star Game for the first time in his career. Lin recorded a .236/.284/.280 batting line in the next year, and took his only CPBL Gold Glove award as a shortstop. Lin also made Taiwan's roster for the 1999 Intercontinental Cup, hitting .208/.345/.208 and fielding .977 as their starting shortstop; he led the squad with five walks.

When the Tigers dissolved in 1999, the Chinatrust Whales signed Lin, and he batted .257/.307/.307 in 2000. He participated in the All-Star Game for the third consecutive year. He only played 44 games in 2001 with a .257/.335/.309 batting line, and hit .238/.281/.290 in 2002. Lin was involved in a gambling scandal at the end of this season, and the Whales then released Lin, which ended his career.

Overall, Lin had hit .225/.277/.271 in six seasons in the CPBL.
