Biographical Information[edit]

Yudai Aranishi has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.

Aranishi pitched for Honda after he graduated from High School. He pitched for Japan in the 2018 Asian Games. In his debut, he pitched a inning, and allowed 2 hits but remained scoreless against Pakistan. He then relieved Takumi Takahashi in the 5th inning against Thailand, whiffed two and closed out the mercy rule win. He pitched 3 1/3 innings, struck out three and only allowed a single. In the semifinal, Aranishi beat Taiwan and Hua-Ching Lin; he completed a combined shutout with Yuichiro Okano. He also relieved Katsutoshi Satake in the 5th inning against South Korea in the Gold Medal Game loss, pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings and fanned two. In the main round, he tied Sakai Phraechai for second with four appearances, one shy of Nanda Dwi Saputra. He also tied Chan-kyu Im for 8th with 8 K and only Yuichiro Okano had more innings with a zero ERA. [1]

He was picked by the Orix Buffaloes in the 3rd round of the 2018 NPB draft. [2] He debuted on April 16, 2019, when he pitched one scoreless inning against the Nippon-Ham Fighters. He ended up 1-4 with a 5.57 ERA in 51 2/3 innings pitched in the 2019 season. He improved slightly in 2020, as he had a 4.88 ERA in 31 1/3 innings. The Buffaloes then released him after the 2021 season. [3]
