Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Yin-Lun Lan played in the CPBL.

Lan played for Taiwan in the 2006 Asian Youth Championship and 2010 World University Championship (in which he went 3 for 4 with two RBI in a near-upset of the USA). He played for the La New Bears in the Taiwanese minors in 2009-2010, going 2 for 4 with a run and a RBI. He was picked for Taiwan for the 2011 World Port Tournament but was sidelined by injury. In the 2011 Baseball World Cup, he split the corner outfield spots with Yi-Kun Huang and Wei-Ting Lin; he was 2 for 14 with a walk, steal and five strikeouts; he had six putouts. He made Taiwan's team for the 2012 World University Championship but the event was cancelled due to lack of sufficient teams.

The Lamigo Monkeys picked Lan in the 7th round of the 2013 CPBL Draft. He did better than the guys picked ahead of him, hitting .339/.377/.462 as a rookie with 20 steals (in 21 tries) and 47 runs in 88 games. He fielded .985. His first hit came off Hung-Wen Chen and his first homer against Yu-Ching Lin. He helped Lamigo win the 2014 Taiwan Series, being MVP of game 3 (4 for 5, 4 R); his batting line was .368/.400/.526 in the whole series. He tied Chih-Hsiang Lin for 5th in the 2014 CPBL in doubles (20), tied Chih-Hao Chang and Da-Hung Cheng for 4th in steals and would have been third in average had he qualified (behind Chin-Lung Hu and Yi-Chuan Lin). He was named CPBL Rookie of the Year, the second straight Lamigo winner after Hsiu-Yen Kuo. He also joined Hu and Cheng-Wei Chang as the Best Ten picks in the outfield.

Lan suffered from a left elbow injury, so he only played 56 games with a .325/.359/.433 batting line in 2015. He injured his right knee on opening day in 2016, and his season ended. Lan came back in 2017, and he hit .321/.385/.542 with 14 homers. He was selected into the 2018 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 1-for-1 with a run scored. Lan improved to .335/.367/.489 with 15 homers in 2018, ranking 6th in batting (.040 behind Chun-Hsiu Chen), 4th in hits (19 behind Chieh-Hsien Chen) and 7th in homers (7 behind Chih-Hao Chang). He also won his second Best Ten. In the 2018 Taiwan Series, Lan hit .458/.480/.708 with 2 homers, and he break Juan Parra's CPBL record as he collected 11 hits in a single series. However, Lan didn't win the series MVP because his teammate Chun-Hsiu Chen had a better .500/.542/.682 batting line.

The Kaohsiung native was still solid in 2019, hitting .318/.364/.447 with 10 homers and won the Best Ten again. He was 9th in batting (.071 behind Li Lin) and 7th in hits (18 behind Yu-Hsien Chu). Lan only hit .182/.217/.364 in the 2019 Taiwan Series, and the Monkeys still beat the CTBC Brothers in 5 games. He recorded a .310/.375/.456 batting line with 6 homers in 2020. However, Lan slumped to .232/.279/.321 in 2021 and he mainly stayed in the minors as the Monkeys had many outstanding outfielders. He hit .260/.332/.339 in 2022, but his batting line fell to .242/.280/.368 in 2023. On August 10, the Monkeys traded him with Po-Jung Wang, Wei-Chun Weng and Yi-Cheng Wang to the TSG Hawks for Tzu-Wei Lin.
