Biographical Information[edit]

Yevhenii Tkachenko was 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA for the Ukrainian national team in the 2005 European Championship, beating Mike Renery and the British national team. [1] He was also with them for the 2007 European Championship. He allowed 4 runs and 5 walks in 4 1/3 IP and took the loss against the British national team. He also played some outfield, going 1 for 4 with a walk and a RBI. [2] In the 2008 European Championship Qualifier, he pitched 2 1/3 shutout innings and was 2-for-4 with a double, run and two RBI. [3] In the 2015 B-Level European Championship, he allowed one run in six to beat Matevz Vodopivec and Slovenia. [4]

In the 2017 B-Level European Championship, he struggled with 7 runs (all earned) in 2 2/3 IP, going 0 for 3 with 2 walks and 2 runs. [5] He pitched six shutout innings, fanning eight, to beat Finland's Andreas Fopp in the 2019 B-Level European Championship. [6] He allowed one unearned run in six to beat Vahur Poder and Estonia in the 2021 European Championship Qualifier, trailing only Dimitri Kourtis in ERA in the qualifiers (Kourtis was also at 0.00, but in more innings); Ukraine advanced to the 2021 European Championship. [7] Pitching in his first European Championship in 16 years, the veteran 38-year-old allowed six hits, a walk and four runs (all earned) in 3 1/3 IP versus Germany; the 18-years-younger Andrii Boiko took over. He had actually outdueled counterpart Lukas Steinlein, but Ukraine could not get the upset. He also played left against Russia, going 1 for 4 with a RBI double off Vladislav Ilin. [8]
