Biographical Information[edit]

Won-jae Choi has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korea national baseball team.

Choi represented Korea in the 2006 Intercontinental Cup, going 0-2 with a 4.38 ERA in five outings; only Hyun-seung Lee made more appearances for them. He lost to Taiwan's Wei-Lun Pan and Australia's P.J. Bevis. The SK Wyverns selected him in the 9th round of the 2010 KBO draft, and he only pitched 4 games combined with the big club in his first three seasons. He then missed the 2013 and 2014 seasons due to military service, during which time he also represented Korea in the 2013 East Asian Games (winning a Silver Medal). The Wyverns then released Choi, and he signed with the KT Wiz. He had a 3.86 ERA in 36 games with 3 holds in 2015, but he allowed 9 runs in 9 1/3 innings in 2016. Choi only pitched 4 games with the big club in 2017, then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Choi was 3-1 with a 5.24 ERA, struck out 39 and pitched 46 1/3 innings in 5 seasons in the KBO.
