Biographical Information[edit]
Tyrone Boykin was signed by the California Angels in 1991 and spent six seasons playing in the minors. He hit .255 in 513 career games.
He began his coaching career in 1997 with the Lake Elsinore Storm, then coached the Cedar Rapids Kernels from 1998-2000, before becoming manager in mid-2000. He was hitting coach for the Arkansas Travelers in 2002 before spending 2003-2004 as the team's manager. Boykin then managed the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in 2005, Arkansas in 2006, and the AZL Angels in 2007. When Jim Eppard moved up to the Angels to replace Mickey Hatcher, Boykin served as the interim hitting coach of the Salt Lake Bees. Francisco Matos assumed the role on May 22.
