Biographical Information[edit]

Tomasz Oberto has played in the First Division and for the Belgian national team.

He debuted in the First Division in 2019, allowing ten walks and five runs in four innings. [1] His next appearances came in 2021, when he was 0-2 with a 4.35 ERA for the Mont-Saint-Guibert Phoenix. [2] He was rocked in one game for Belgium in the 2021 U23 European Championship, giving up six hits, two walks and seven runs (six earned) in 3 1/3 IP against Germany. [3] Making Belgium's squad for the 2021 European Championship, he debuted against Bronze Medalist Italy. Relieving Brendan Verspreet in the third with a 2-0 deficit, he allowed singles to Leo Ferrini and Dario Pizzano and a sac fly to Vito Friscia. Alberto Mineo singled to make it 4-0, but he recovered to get Ernesto Liberatore and Federico Celli. In the 4th, he got Erick Epifano on a grounder then walked Mattia Mercuri and Noel González before José Luis Larrinaga took over and let both inherited runners in. His other game, against Great Britain, he succeeded Robin Roevens with a 2-2 tie in the 7th. He gave up a single to Shamoy Christopher, a RBI double to Zach Stroman (who got picked off by the catcher), then Nateshon Thomas reached on an error and Kent Blackstone singled in a run. Verspreet came in and let both runners in. Oberto thus finished with a 27.00 ERA for the Euros, highest on the team (Larrinaga was next at 15.43). In a high-scoring tourney, he did not have one of the ten highest ERAs, though. [4]
