Biographical Information[edit]

Tomas Francisco was signed by Tampa Bay Devil Rays scout Junior Ramirez in 2006. He hit .233/.307/.307 as the primary catcher with the 2007 DSL Devil Rays. Moving stateside in 2008, he batted .241/.261/.345 for the Princeton Rays, backing up Mayo Acosta. His offensive numbers fell to .224/.263/.238 with the same club in 2009 but he threw out 41% of those who tried to steal after being at 24% in 2008. He produced at a .247/.313/.296 clip in 50 games as a C-1B for the 2010 Bowling Green Hot Rods to end his playing career. He had hit .237/.291/.305 with 55 runs and 58 RBI in 154 games as a pro.

He coached for the 2013-2015 DSL Rays and 2016-2017 GCL Rays. He then managed the GCL Rays in 2018. Francisco served as the minor league catching coordinator in 2019. In 2020 he joined the major league coaching staff as catching coach, but was no longer in the position in 2021. In 2024, he was again listed as a coach with the title of Major League field Coordinator.

In addition, Francisco coached in the Dominican League. He was the first base coach for the Estrellas Orientales in 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. He is scheduled to be the hitting coach for the 2020/2021 Águilas Cibaeñas.
