Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Lechnir has been a college coach for many years.
Lechnir played in the NCAA Division III World Series three times (1980-1982) while an outfielder at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He hit .369 as a senior. Tom was an assistant coach at the school from 1983-1988, winning the 1985 Division III College World Series.
Lechnir became head coach at UW-Oshkosh and has gone 647-221-1 through 2009, putting him 19th in NCAA Division III history in victories. He has guided his club to 11 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles, nine Division III World Series appearances and a national title in 1994. After the 2013 season, UWO decided not to renew Lechnir's contract [1].
Lechnir was named NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year in 1994.
He has helped develop major leaguers Jack Taschner and Jarrod Washburn while head coach.
