Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Todd Heimer reached AAA.

He played for Seton Hall in the 1974 College World Series and 1975 College World Series. He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 23rd round of the 1976 amateur draft, a few picks after Mike Couchee. He was signed by scout Bob Quinn. He played in the Indians system from 1977 to 1981, splitting his first year between the Batavia Trojans (4 R in 3 IP) and Jersey City Indians (2-1, 2.92). In 1978, he was with the Chattanooga Lookouts (4-7, Sv, 3.83, 44 BB in 87 IP) and Portland Beavers (4-2, 4.20, 36 BB in 60 IP).

Perhaps his best year was 1979, when he went a combined 11-4 with a 3.86 ERA in 39 games (nine starts) for the Chattanooga Lookouts (10-3, 3.86) and Tacoma Tugs (1-1, 4.95). He walked 106 in 140 IP overall. He was third in the Indians farm chain in both walks and whiffs (106), trailing Juan Berenguer and Robin Fuson in both departments. That winter, he was 2-7 with a 3.99 ERA and 52 walks in 76 2/3 IP for the Navegantes del Magallanes. He tied Paul Semall and Luis Leal for third in the Venezuelan League in losses and he led the league in walks, 9 ahead of Berenguer.

Things took a turn for the worse in 1980 with Chattanooga (3-12, 4.78, 96 BB in 130 IP) and Tacoma (1-2, 10.93, 14 BB in 14 IP). He led Cleveland minor leaguers in losses, walks and wild pitches (19). He tied Steve Bedrosian for 5th in the Southern League in walks, tied for 7th in losses and was third with 15 wild pitches. He was 1-3 with 4 saves and a 6.39 ERA for the 1982 Lookouts with 55 walks in 62 innings to end his career.

For his career, he was 26-31 with a 4.54 ERA in 137 games (50 starts). Wracked with poor control throughout his career, he walked 373 batters - twice eclipsing 100 in a season - in 533 innings, while striking out 343 and allowing 519 hits.
