Team History[edit]

Founded in 2004 as the Tijuana Toros, this Mexican League team made a strong debut, drawing a minor-league-high 12,000 fans per game that year. In 2005 they changed their name to the Potros (Colts) and performed very well, making the North Division finals before losing in 7 games to Saltillo. However, they were gone by the end of the 2008 season.

An earlier incarnation of the team played in southwestern leagues in the 1950s as the Tijuana Colts and/or Tijuana Potros.

From 1977-1991, another Potros de Tijuana club played in the Mexican Pacific League, taking titles in 1987/88 and 1990/91. The Potros ceased operations after winning the '91 championship.
