- 1927 - One of the rarest plays in baseball, the unassisted triple play, happens for the second straight day. 1B Johnny Neun catches a Homer Summa liner, tags Charlie Jamieson between first and second, then steps on second base to force Glenn Myatt.
- 1937 - Carl Hubbell (pictured) loses for the first time since July 13, 1936, ending a 24-game winning streak.
- 1950 - Tokyu Flyers pitcher Makizo Itoh gives up a Nippon Pro Baseball record 18 runs in a game against the Mainichi Orions.
- 1983 - Lee MacPhail suspends George Steinbrenner for a week for the New York Yankees owner's repeated criticism of umpires.
- 1997 - Ila Borders becomes the first female player in minor league baseball history. The St. Paul Saints pitcher allows three runs to the Sioux Falls Canaries without retiring anyone.
