- 1940 - Tadashi Kameda of Kurowashi walks or hits nine batters, but still winds up with a no-hitter and 1-0 victory over the Lion team.
- 1953 - The Boston Braves move to Milwaukee, WI to become the Milwaukee Braves. It is the first relocation of a MLB franchise in 50 years.
- 1957 - The Boston Red Sox offer $1 million for Herb Score, believed to be a record at the time. Cleveland Indians GM Hank Greenberg rejects the offer.
- 1974 - Singer Charley Pride, a former Negro Leagues player, goes 1 for 2 in a spring training game for the Texas Rangers. He singles off Jim Palmer.
- 1991 - One-handed pitcher Jim Abbott (pictured) triples in a spring training contest against Rick Reuschel.
- 2009 - Japan knocks Cuba out of the 2009 World Baseball Classic. For the first time since the 1951 Amateur World Series, Cuba will not play in the finals of a global baseball tournament they entered - a span of 40 events. Hisashi Iwakuma and Toshiya Sugiuchi combine on a five-hit shutout.
