- 1890 - Mickey Welch (pictured) beats Pittsburgh, 4-2. Welch becomes the majors' third 300-game winner.
- 1931 - The White Sox rap 12 hits in the 8th inning to set an American League record as they rally for a 14-12 win over the Yankees.
- 1989 - Vince Coleman is thrown out by Nelson Santovenia after 50 consecutive successful steals. Coleman shatters the old record held by Davey Lopes.
- 1991 - Dennis Martinez tosses the 13th perfect game in major league history. Ron Hassey becomes the first player to catch two perfect games.
- 1993 - Ken Griffey Jr. homers for the eighth consecutive contest, tying the major league record shared by Dale Long and Don Mattingly.
