The 1931 New York Yankees played the 29th season in team history. They finished with a record of 94-59, 13.5 games behind the Philadelphia Athletics. New York was managed by Joe McCarthy. The Yankees played at Yankee Stadium.

On August 2nd, the Yankees were shut out, 1-0, by the Boston Red Sox and Wilcy Moore in the second game of a doubleheader. They would not be shut out again until August 3, 1933, a total of 308 games that is still the major league record.
