Managed by Casey Stengel
Coaches: Frankie Crosetti, Bill Dickey, Ralph Houk and Jim Turner
History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 1954 New York Yankees played the 52nd season in team history. The team finished with a record of 103-51, 8 games behind the Cleveland Indians, who broke the Yankees' 1927 American League record by winning 111 games. New York was managed by Casey Stengel. The Yankees played at Yankee Stadium. Ironically, this was the only year the Yankees won 100 games during the Casey Stengel era, but also one of only two times they missed the postseason (they also did so in 1959). They won 13 straight games from July 3-18; no other defending World Series champion won that many until the 2022 Atlanta Braves.
