- 1960 - A court rules in favor of Dorothy Rigney, sister of Charles Comiskey, Jr., allowing her to sell her mother's shares of the White Sox to Bill Veeck.
- 1961 - Billy Hamilton and Max Carey are chosen for the Hall of Fame.
- 1970 - Miguel Fuentes (pictured), the last pitcher in Seattle Pilots history, is shot and killed in a bar fight.
- 1988 - The Los Angeles Dodgers sign Kirk Gibson as a free agent. Gibson will become the first non-rookie to win MVP honors in his first season in the history of the National League.
- 1999 - Futoshi Nakanishi is voted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame.
