Biographical Information[edit]
The grandson and namesake of Chicago White Sox founder Charles Comiskey Chuck Comiskey was the son of J. Louis Comiskey and his wife Grace. Upon the death of his mother, majority ownership of the club passed to his sister Dorothy Comiskey Rigney. Chuck served as Co-General Manager of the team along with brother-in-law John Rigney until Bill Veeck assumed ownership of the Sox in 1959 when he and Hank Greenberg bought his sister's majority shares. Chuck tried everything in his power to prevent that sale, and then to undermine the two new principal partners, but to no avail. When Veeck and Greenberg eventually sold their shares to John and Arthur Allyn, Chuck sold his as well with a view of buying back the whole team in short order, but he was never able to do so, ending over six decades of family ownership of the team.
