Biographicl Information[edit]

John Allyn was a partner of his older brother Arthur Allyn Jr., who bought the Chicago White Sox from Bill Veeck in 1961. In 1969, John bought his brother out to prevent the club from being sold to a Milwaukee, WI group. He sold the team back to Veeck in 1975, but kept a 20% interest in the club.

Allyn spent 1942-1945 as a radar maintenance officer in the U.S. Navy.

Allyn also was president of the Chicago Mustangs soccer team for two years.
